Religious Education

During the Second Vatican Council, the Church reaffirmed that parents are the first teachers of their children in the ways of the faith. Parents are called to serve as role models who inspire their children through their own life of prayer, education in faith, and support of the Church.

Mission:

The Religious Education program of St. Michael the Archangel and Mary Mother of Peace will endeavor to live and share the faith with our community of parishioners and young people. We will encourage the growth of their faith emphasizing the tenets of our faith. We will strive to provide them with interactive and cooperative learning opportunities and enhance communication within our community of families.

Our goals are to:

  • Present our Catholic Faith accurately, authentically, and completely, consistent with the age and readiness of the students.
  • To teach Jesus Christ is our Savior and Model of Christian life.
  • To give students an appreciation for salvation history and biblical studies.
  • To develop a strong sense of belonging to the parish family, as evidenced by participation in Sunday Mass and other parish celebrations.
  • Provide a welcoming and loving atmosphere where children can develop their faith and encounter Christ.
  • Foster a clear sense of Catholic identity and an appreciation of Catholic beliefs, values, prayers, practices, and sacramental celebrations.
  • To support parents in their role as primary educators of their children.
  • To prepare families for their children's first reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, thereby fostering moments of adult faith development.
  • To work with youth in preparing spiritually and doctrinally for the Sacrament of Confirmation while developing a habit of service to others and commitment to worship and community.
